COMMUNITY ACTION, GLOBAL IMPACT!

Launched in 1992, the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme, implemented by United Nations Development Programme has been supporting community action with a global impact. Through providing technical and financial assistance, civil society organizations and communities are given the opportunity to implement projects in the areas of climate change, biodiversity, sustainable forest management, land degradation, international waters, and persistent organic pollutants (POPs)/chemicals. These community-based projects must meet environmental objectives while at the same time also supporting poverty reduction and local empowerment objectives.
